From my personal collection.
A very rare pair of Hudiedao with forged iron guards.
Overall 57cms long with blades just under 46cms long and 15mm thick at the base.
The guards are forged welded and show clear laminations to all surfaces. The timber slab grips are large and comfortable with incised geometric designs to the outer surfaces. the shape and position of the guards do allow for easy thumb applications to reverse the position of the blade to protect the forearm.
The blades although currently in an uncleaned state show very clear and controlled pattern welding.
Would grade up well with a professional polish if desired.
