A fine late Qing military sabre.

In its scabbard this sabre measures 82.5cms long in its scabbard, just under 80cms out and has a blade length of 63.5cms long.
The hilt is of standard form with a rounded pommel, simple collar and disc guard which measures 8cms across at its widest point.
The grip is timber, covered with mulberry paper and bound with its original blue cloth wrap. A blue cord wrist lanyard is retained with the sword.
The blade has good balance in the hand with forward weight to end. There is clear distal taper through to the tip and to the cutting edge. Each blade face has double fullers running below the spine.
The scabbard is in solid healthy condition throughout. it si without loss or damages to the timbers of ray skin covering but no longer retains the lower fitting.

A fine Chinese military sabre, types that are becoming harder to find.
