A very rare variant of the Moro Bangkung.

This fine and unusual example measures 58.5cms long in its sheath. Out it is 52cms long with a 39cm blade.
The hilt is of carved horn. The grip is octagonal in shape with a flared pommel decorated with engraved designs. The grip is further decorated with a 4cms long octagonal silver collar that flares open towards the blade.
The blade is of a rare form. In profiles its waist is narrow, a sweeping forward curve and a slightly upswept tip. A clear inserted end is seen to the left face of the blade.
The scabbard is rattan bound timber. The timber shows numerous age cracks and the rattan has been replaced. Overall it is complete which certainly adds to the rarity of the piece.

A fine, rare and little known Philippine sword.
