A large, fine and very rare Moro Datu Kris with inlay and silver pommel.
This large Kris with its oversized silver pommel measures 74cms long in its sheath, 70cms out and has a blade length of 56cms, is 12cms across the gonjo and 4.5cms wide across the first luk or curve in the blade.
The hilt comprises of a very large oversized pommel, copper collars to the top and bottom and a large comfortable mid grip of differing design elements to the silver.
The blade is a 5luk type of rare form being half luk, half straight, sometimes noted as Naga awake and Naga sleeping, this blade has a balance between the two.
As the images show, there is a lot of unusual and rare silver inlay to the blades surfaces with most of it present were it is so often lost..
The sheath has seen a little wear with a loss to one arrow shaped corner and a repaired break between the two sections, an area covered and supported by leather strapping.
A very rare aspect of the sheath is a large well formed silver covering to the base, something that could be unique to this Kris.
A fine and large Chief Kris, a type that is getting harder to find in any condition.
