A fine heavy Dia Chirra Kukri from the early 20th century.

In its sheath, this kukri measures 44cms long from the centre of the tang to the tip of the sheath. Out it is 43cms long with a blade length of 33cms.
The hilt is of dark horn and a broad oval cross section. It it decorated in silver sheet to the pommel, mid grip and bolster. The silver to the grip and pommel show a repousse floral design.
The blade is just under 4cms at the grip and broadens to just under 6cms at the belly.
The spine is 9mm thick with a medial ridge running through to the tip. Its faces show the Dia Chirra fullers, double crescent marks and various engravings below the spine.
The sheath is timber with its original velour covering and a simple decorated silver end cap.
