A good complete example of a sword type that is becoming increasingly hard to find in any condition.

This Jian is 96cms long in its scabbard. Out it is 94.5cms long and has a blade length of 72cms long from the edge of the thick cross guard.
Overall, the entire sword has been well preserved. The ray skin grip is complete and the eyelets for the tassel are intact. The hilt fittings are present and in good order with the guard having slight movement as is common with Chinese swords over time and use.
The blade retains 99% of its original bright polish and frosted etched panels at the forte. The block forte is approximately 14cms long and contains characters to one side and tree branches, birds and foliage to the reverse.
The blade has a clear medial ridge running through to the tip with distal taper to the tip and edges, edges which have seen some use but a perfectly presentable.
The scabbard is lacquer and wire bound timber with pierced brass fittings.

A good complete and rare Chinese sword.
