A good all silver military fighting sword from Thailand.

This sword measures 77cms long in its scabbard, out it is 75cms long and has a blade length of 42cms long.
The silver hilt is constructed from narrow segments which the edges finished in twisted silver wire and silver beading, a design that offers a firm and positive finger grip when held. The mid grip is a combination of woven wire, likely silver, made in to a mesh and filled with a translucent black lacquer. The fore grip is octagonal which is common to the type and form of these military swords. Beneath the fore grip, an octagonal copper bolster can be seen within the exposed resin, a good indicator that this sword was used for combat as well as dress.
The blade is a long narrow leaf form with a thick spine, with a profile type seen on 18th century and earlier sword types.
The blade is unusual in that it has been resin set in to the hilt with cloth, most likely a Yantra cloth for protection, something that I have rarely seen but do have examples of in my private collections.
The scabbard is a simple timber type with repairs to the base and covered in a black lacquer to protect it from the weather. For the sword type, it would have been covered in silver originally, but at some time throughout its long life, this has been removed for purposes unknown.

A good sword with important facets.
