A good complete large Ottoman cavalry sword.

This large sabre measures just under 102cms long in its scabbard. Out is it 97.5cms with a blade length of 82cms, being measures from the peak of the quillon block to the tip of the blade.
The hilt is horn grips with a steel guard and integral knuckle bow and a steel grip strap. The pommel is pierced for a wrist lanyard with the hole mounted with bronze fittings.
The blade is European, likely Hungarian. The forte is decorated with rubbed markings. There is a single broad fuller to each blade face which ends at approx 10cms from the tip. This deep fuller creates a precise and thick bevelled cutting edge.
The sabre is complete with its original scabbard. The scabbard is mounted with steel fittings and double suspension rings. Between the fittings are original leather coverings that are joined with a broad brass wire bound seam.

A good rare and complete Hungarian Ottoman cavalry sabre in a stable old dark patina.
