A very good and complete Langgai Tinggang, Borneo.

This example measures 77cms long in its scabbard, 75.5 out and has a blade length of 60.5cms which is 4.5cms wide at the tip.
The hilt is a traditional carved bone type with the remains of old hair tufts hanging from the openings at the pommel.
The fore grip is bound with brass wire and resin as reinforcing for the point where the tang enters the hilt.
The blade has a long flat spine and an bronze inlaid krowit to the base of the cutting edge.
Its surfaces are engraved at the base and an intricate narrow fuller separates the forte from the cutting edge with the fuller runner up to and along the edge of the spine.
The scabbard is timber bound in rattan and has a long bark section attached to the rear along with a woven fibre suspension cord.

A rare sword.
