A good complete Syrian sabre with a fine European blade.

This sabre measures 96cms long in its scabbard, 92cms out and has a blade length 80cms from the tip to the centre of the quillon block.
The hilt is a rather atypical type compared to the classical traditional type but remains largely the same. Its grip slabs are a fine dark polished horn, enclosed with an engraved grip strap. The slabs are decorated with rosettes and carved to house the steel guard.
The blade is a very finely pattern welded type with clear engraved motifs to each face of the forte and the remains of sun, moon and star motifs further along the base of the blade.
The blade is likely Austr-Hungarian in origins, it retains a good cutting edge and expertly finished fullers.
The sword retains its original scabbard, redressed in leather and steel fittings earlier in its working like. A very small amount of silver Koftgari remains to the scabbard fittings.

A fine fighting sword at a very good price.
