A fine and complete Ch'ing military sabre, sidearm or dao.

This sword type measures 77.8cms long in its sheath, 65.5cms out, with a blade length of 50cms.
The timber hilt is bound with mulberry paper and finished with fine bronze coloured cord. The grip is secured within the decorative bronze pommel cap and collar. The disk guard or Tsuba is of typical form and fashion with decorated surfaces.
The scabbard is covered in ray skin that has been sanded smooth and dyed green. It is bound in bronze fittings that are decorated in the same manner as the hilt.
The blade is of tapering form, has good distal taper to the tip and cutting edge with a tapered back edge starting just short of the upswept tip. Double narrow fullers are seen on each face, sitting just below the spine of the blade.
