A fine warrior's Kris, Philippines, 19th century.

In its scabbard, this Moro Kris measures 72cms. Out is it 65.5cms long with a blade length of 52.5cms.

Overall, this Kris remains in excellent condition for its age, the scabbard however has suffered losses as is very common with most weapons from the region, mostly due to the considerable use they saw in ongoing conflicts.

The pommel is a simply carved example. It is a very dark wood that has developed a deep lustre to its surfaces. The grip wrappings remain intact and are slightly worn.
The blade is an extremely well-made type. The maker has opted for a broad blade with a fine, thin type. The use of the fullering arrangements has created a high tensile strength.
To further the beauty of the makers work, the blades surfaces have been inlaid with star motifs throughout the forte.

A very good example of the type in a form rarely seen.
