A very good example of the Canary Island knife, complete with its original sheath.

This knife measures 25.5cms long and has a blade length of 16.5cms including the integral bolster.
Of classic form and construction, with its sheath, this example displays very well. The hilt shows a nice mellow age patina to the brass fitting and spacers, whilst the horn sections show a deep lustre and are free from loss or cracks.

The deep bellied blade has dot decoration to the upper right face and as sometimes seen, these knives carry a date amongst the design. This example is not dated, but by design and sheath construction, we'd place this circa 1900-1910.

The leather sheath is of standard form, with reinforced drag and throat sections and diagonal stitching at these points, mimicking the central design within the grip.

A very good complete antique Canary Island knife.
