A rare and very unusual silver and rhino hilted Yemen Jambiya
Heavy thick silver sheet over steel scabbard of quality workmanship.
The hilt is silver over Rhino horn to the front and Rhino horn to the rear.
The blade is of standard double edge form with raised a central rib, 20cms long 6cms wide at the hilt.
The back of the hilt has a copper bridge running from top to bottom. This piece although of Yemen form also represents Hijaz form and to view very similar form of both hilt and scabbard throat, refer to Robert Elgoods "The Arms and Armour of Arabia", page 79, figure 9.19 being Sabak or Sabik in style.
This is a very nice example of a rare in not unique Yemenite Jambiya from the early 20th century.
A very fine and extremely attractive piece or Arabian artwork.
