A very fine, early and rare Norwegian knife from the late 19th century.

At just under 28cms sheathed, this example is just under 27cms out with a blade 15cms long.
The shaped hilt is Walrus ivory with a wonderful warm old patina.
The one side of the hilt there is a gifted presentation dedication that is written "FROM FB to EG 1889".
Norwegian knife blades are famous for their strength and edge with this knife being no exception. It carries a clipped tip, thick spine and a keen edge.
The sheath is unusual in that it has eight narrow open pockets approx 5mm across and 70mm deep around the throat, perhaps only decoration, perhaps to carry iron or ivory pins of some kind?.
The sheath is solid and in out standing condition, free from damage or loss.
A very rare complete knife of a little known 19th century Norwegian knife maker.
