A good rare Keris Tajong.

This rare Patanni Keris is a 19th century example of the Keris Pekaka or Kingfisher Keris, also known as the Keris Tajong. This particular example is of a very rare 5 luk form.
The Kingfisher hulu or hilt is carved from rich dark Kemuning timber which appears to be from a burl in places.
Its features are expertly carved throughout and it remains in good condition despite a small age crack and minor loss to the end of the beak.
The blade is a very rare 5 luk form, half straight and half Naga form at the bottom half, a form more commonly seen on Malay Sundang or Moro Kris. The blade has a very wide base with good features and clear longitudinal patterning running through its entire length. Darkened hardened edges are also seen in the steels surfaces.

A rare keris with a very rare blade type.
