A very fine and rare Indian Tulwar, Lahore.

Out of the sheath this fine sword is just under 87cms long and carries a very heavy broad blade 74cms long.
The very fine and rare wootz hilt is decorated in fine gold Koftgari displaying four leaf clovers and swans to the underside of the disk pommel and sunflowers to the grip. Of particular importance and rarity are the palmette style quillons, also decorated in gold Koftgari.
The blade is in very fine condition and is a heavy and capable fighting example. To one side of the forte is a tear drop shaped inlayed panel, perhaps added to cover another cartouche as the blade is later than the hilt, likely a preferred trophy blade.
The scabbard is leather over timber with a large solid silver chape and drag with pierced decorations.

A very rare and complete sword from the Sikh regions of Lahore.
